Insurance Coverage That You Need for Your Swimming Pool

Get the Insurance Coverage That You Need for Your Swimming Pool

Keep your property safe and invest in pool insurance.

Whether you already have a swimming pool, or if you’re thinking about installing one, there are a few things that you should know. In addition to figuring out what type of filter to buy and what pool accessories to invest in, you must first think about pool insurance. Despite their appeal, pools are considered to be “attractive nuisances.” Owning a pool comes with its fair share of liability. Protect your home and check out what you need to know about pool insurance.

Liability Coverage:

Your pool increases your liability risk. Should someone have an accident in or around your pool, with or without your permission, you can be found liable for the damage. Because of the higher risk of liability, your regular liability coverage may not give you a high enough limit. Invest in supplemental pool coverage so that you’re better able to get the coverage that you need. With a pool, it’s recommended that you have as much as $500,000 in liability coverage.

In-Ground vs. Above-Ground Pools:

Whether your pool is above-ground or in-ground, your homeowners insurance has several ways of looking at your pool. In-ground pools are often considered an extraneous structure, which is then covered under your homeowners insurance policy. However, not every insurer will consider it as such a structure. In those cases, you’re left without the coverage that you need. Plus, most policies charge you more for extraneous coverage. Above ground pools, on the other hand, are considered to be personal property since they originally came from a box. However, in either case, it’s a good idea to supplement your coverage with pool insurance so that you can rest easy knowing that your pool is well covered.

Ask the Right Questions When Looking for Flood Insurance

Ask the Right Questions When Looking for Flood Insurance

Know what to ask your agent when looking for flood insurance.

Whether it’s a burst pipe or a raging winter storm, flooding can be detrimental to your home. While you may think that your homeowners insurance covers flooding, that’s not the case. You need flood insurance for water damage. Get the coverage that you need for water damage. Check out what you need to know about flood insurance and ask your agent these questions.

What Does Flood Insurance Cover?

Flood insurance gives you the coverage that you need to protect your home from rising water levels and mudflows. From mold removal to getting rid of debris, your coverage helps to give you the coverage that you need to repair your home after the damage is done.

Are There Any Coverage Gaps?

Keep in mind that while flood insurance is extremely helpful in a bind, it has its limitations. Once the coverage limits have been exceeded, you’re responsible for the difference. Additionally, it only covers the structure of your home and only a few basement essentials. Your personal belongings are also at risk. While you’ll receive some coverage for your personal possessions, know that it’s extremely limited. Also, flood insurance only covers floods. If there’s any damage done by land movement, you’re not covered.

How Do I Protect My Home from a Storm?

Taking preventative measures is a must when it comes to minimizing damage and protecting your home. When a storm is coming, take the necessary precautions such as purchasing sandbags, and moving personal belongings above ground level. Additionally, it’s a good idea to take a home inventory so that if you do need to file a claim with your insurer, you’ll be ready to go.

Why You Need Event Insurance for All Your Summer Occasions

Hosting a Special Event this Summer? Check Out Why You Need Event Insurance

Protect your special events with the right insurance.

Along with the warm, sunny weather, summer brings a variety of activities and events. From weddings to outdoor concerts to company barbecues, hosting an event this summer is exciting. However, it also comes with lots of responsibility. You need event insurance to keep your event well protected. Check out why you need event insurance for all your summertime special occasions.

Liability Risk.

Hosting an event comes with enormous responsibility. If anything goes wrong, you’re the go-to person. From property damage to injuries, you could be liable as the event host. Fortunately, event insurance can give you the necessary coverage to help offset expensive legal fees and medical bills. Additionally, if you’re planning on serving alcohol at your event, you want all your bases covered. Bartenders and caterers don’t always have the insurance that they should. Invest in an added liquor liability policy to protect yourself from any issues down the line.

Cancellations.

Life doesn’t always go to plan. For one reason or another, you may have to cancel your event. However, if you’re too close to the date of the event, it may be too late to get your deposits back. That’s where event insurance comes in. It can help to reimburse you for lost monies due to a cancellation.

Workers’ Compensation.

You can’t host an event without a well-trained staff. With lots of lifting heavy objects and climbing ladders to hang decorations, the event staff has a dangerous job. Give them the protection that they need, and invest in an event insurance policy. In some cases, it can help to give event staff the workers’ compensation they need to get the right medical treatment.

Keep your summertime occasions running smoothly with the right event insurance. Contact the insurance professionals at Moser Group Inc. Located in New York, our experienced, knowledgeable staff will help you meet all your personal and commercial insurance needs.
